Is one day enough?

A respectful pause, a few real questions

Hey Driver,

Veterans Day is this Tuesday.
A day meant for recognition, gratitude, and reflection.

And I’ve been thinking about something simple, but real:

Is one day a year enough?

I don’t come from a military background myself.
I don’t want to speak for anyone else’s experience.
I also want to be very clear

this isn’t about politics, sides, debates, or who’s right.

Service means different things to different people.
People’s experiences and feelings are their own.
This note isn’t to persuade or convince —

just to listen, learn, and hold space.

So, if you’re open to it, I’d like to ask:

  • How do you observe Veterans Day, if you do at all?

  • Is there someone in your life who served?

  • What has their experience taught you — or shaped in you?

And because many in this community receive Veterans-related emails and notices:

  • Are there benefits or support programs that have actually helped?

  • Which ones feel confusing, slow, or tied up in red tape?

  • If one thing in the system could improve, what would make a real difference?

There’s no pressure to respond.

But if you want to share — even a sentence — I’ll read every reply with care.

This community runs on lived experience, not speeches.

Thank you.
